Southmoreland High School presented an "In Loving Memory" plaque to Samuel's family that recognizes Samuel Hicks' accomplishments and ends with a few fitting words from Samuel's friend and co-worker, Terri Lewis:
"He didn't talk much but when he did it was with such wisdom that you know you were in the presence of something great."
The presentation took place during halftime of a Southmoreland football game, where all of the Scotties players honored Samuel by wearing "SH" stickers on their helmets.
